The thematic Exhibition

The 3 m wide ramp greets visitors as soon as they step under the curtain at the entrance. In an initial circuit of the main cylinder visitors will be able to get an overview of the building. At the top end of the ramp they pass into the exhibition area inside the main cylinder. This initially single-storey area then opens out into a three-storey atrium through the use of tiered galleries, similar to a theatre.

From “The Alps” to the Chairlift

The atrium has a projection screen. The ramp then leads downwards in the double-helix system entwined with the upwards ramp and brings visitors to the chair-lift which leads them over the edge of the urban area on the ground floor, thus observing and at the same time participating in urban life.

In the exhibition area, visitors will have the chance to view the IMAX movie “The Alps” on a large screen

From City to Nature

The second cylinder in the Pavilion, which is open at the top and whose walls are also planted with greenery, houses the chair-lift and takes visitors up to the roof landscape.

The chair lift runs in a double helix from the urban area up to the rural area on the roof and back down into the urban area.

The Chairlift Ride

It emerges above the gently undulating, green expanse. At the end of the trip on the chair-lift, which last around 4 minutes, it goes back into the double-helix system and deposits visitors in the urban area on the ground floor.

The roof of the Swiss pavilion is covered with a green meadow which symbolizes the natural space.
