A global Group with Swiss roots

Holcim is a leading global supplier of cement, aggregates (crushed stone, gravel and sand), ready-mix concrete and asphalt, including related services. The company was founded in 1912 in Holderbank, Switzerland. Its shares have been listed on the SIX Swiss Exchange since 1958.

Today, the Group operates in more than 70 countries worldwide, employing a workforce of some 85,000. Holcim is present in China through its affiliate Huaxin Cement Co., Ltd. This company, with an annual capacity of about 40 million tonnes of cement, is one of the largest producers of construction materials in China. It is based in Wuhan in the province of Hubei.

Holcim’s main objective is to create value for all its major stakeholders. The Group also attaches great importance to sustainable development: its commitments include promoting sustainable construction through the independent Holcim Foundation for Sustainable Construction.
